I read a very interesting post on the blog SEOMoz about an experiment with different types of anchor text in backlinks.
At the botttom of this post will be a link.
Anyway, the experiment showed that having anchor text with a varied keyword rich anchor text was the best of three alternatives.
Using exclusively an exact match (for your selected keyword phrase) anchor text worked but not as well as the above strategy.
For your own blog or Website follow these steps:
- Go to Alexa.com
- Enter your domain url in the search box
- On the next screen click "Get Details"
- Look for "Top Search Queries for (your domain)" on the page
- Add blog comments using varied anchor text on do follow blogs for these keywords.
