With A WordPress Plugin That
Automates The Backup Process
When I suffered my first disasterous data loss, I mistakenly thought all I had to do was copy and paste the lost post from the backup files onto my blog. Blog Database Backup Instructions
Without a doubt one of the worst disasters you can suffer is to lose all of your blog’s data through an accident or stupidity.
Believe me, I have lost precious blog posts due to both causes.
Fortunately, I had a wondrous free WordPress plugin installed when both disasters occured, and it was a routine process to restore the data.
You must backup your blog data!

Everything is taken care of in 3 easy steps:

But what is really involved is that you have to restore the WordPress tables in your MySql database.
Already I know I have scared some people to death because of the technical language.
But as one technophobe to another I can assure you the restoration of data is a very simple process
even the technologically illiterate can master.

–The warning in the red box about the /wp-content/cache directory does not apply to all versions of WordPress, since I could not locate such a directory in my WordPress 2.6.1 version.
To “Login to phpMyAdmin you first have to click the MySql link on the cpanel control panel.
Also, be sure to back up (download to a hard drive/flash drive/CD) your existing WordPress tables once logged into phpMyAdmin before you do anything else.
