Go to the Twitter site of anyone who has re-tweeted any info you post on Twitter.

Follow that person, and it is highly likely that they will follow you back.

Not only do you increase the number of followers you have on Twitter, but you have a growing body of followers who are likely to re-tweet your best Twitter posts.

It ’s not clear the precise impact tags have on search engine results, but it is clear they are important.

Here are 8 steps to take that will greatly strenthen your targeted traffic.

STEP 1

Go to Alexa.com and once there click on “Site Info” from the top menu:

Alexa.com – Click Here

STEP 2

Once on the “Site Info Page” look for “Site Lookup” and enter your blog or Web site’s domain name (e.g. TrafficNymphomaniac.com) and click the “Go” button.

STEP 3

Next, click the “Keywords” link from the top grey menu.

STEP 4

You will see a list of keywords for your blog/Web site with the following title:

Search Terms Driving Traffic
Top keywords driving traffic to (your blog) from search engines. Updated monthly.

Copy and paste this list for future reference. Be sure to date the entry.

STEP 5

Take the keywords that are producing the most traffic and add them as tags to any appropriate posts or pages where they are missing.

STEP 6

Many of the less productive keywords may also be added as tags to most or all of the posts in appropriate categories.

Add these as tags now or combine Steps 5 & 6.

STEP 7

Identify any keywords that qualify as long tail keywords and make a list.

STEP 8

Create private blog pages or Web site pages (not shown in site navigation) that have sufficient information to satisfy the long tail search.

At the bottom of the page include an opt-in form to your opt-in list if it is at all related to the search term.

Your opt-in rate should be very high.

We all know that the money is in the list.

Obviously, you want to make your guest post on a blog with substantial readers, and the Alexa Toolbar is one way to measure this.

The LOWER the Alexa number the MORE traffic a site is receiving. Yahoo is the most heavily visited site, and so has an Alexa ranking of 1.

Sites with Alexa numbers below 399,999 are getting decent traffic. Anything below 100,000 is getting exceptional traffic.

Go to Google Blog Search and enter:

Make sure the blog has a suitable Alexa ranking.

Choose A Blog With A Similar Topic To Your Own Blog’s Focus

Obviously you can greatly increase the number of readers who click thru to your blog if you guest post on a blog that covers similar subjects to yours.

To find the blogs relevant to your niche, add your keywords to the search phrase, for example:

Enter the phrase below as is, but change the content in red to suit your blog’s keywords.

Looking For “Guest Bloggers” your keyword phrase

Wanted: “Guest Bloggers” your keyword phrase

Make A Series Of Helpful Comments For 2-3 Weeks On Your Target Blog Before Approaching Blog Host

When you offer to make a guest post on a specific topic to the host, you’re much more likely to get a positive reception if the host is familiar with you (as in seeing 2 or more recent helpful comments on posts made by the hosts or guests).

Write For The Host Blog’s Audience

You are NOT writing for your own blog regulars but for the host’s audience.

If you can inject a reference to previous psots by the host into your guest post, all the better.

Include A Link Or Two To A Post On Your Own Blog

Obviously, you want a text link with suitable keyword anchor text that links to your own blog to appear as a natural flow of the theme of the guest post.

Blog Owner In Total Trance Sleep Walks 2 City Blocks In Pajamas And 1 Ragged Slipper To Neighberhood Supermarket For The Sole Purpose Of. . . .

. . .for the sole purpose of buying up a bunch of tabloids with great headlines for inspiration so he could win the Killer Post Title Project at ProBlogger

Well, the blog owner walks into the 24 hour supermarket, gathers up copies of The National Enquirer and a couple other tabloids and lays them down on the check-out counter.

He abruptly wakes up, when the clerk asks him for money, and he realizes he doesn’t have any!

Maybe it was the first place prize that got the blog owner so excited, a free logo design valued at $2000.

But, personally, I think its the added benefits of participating in the contest that are most valuable:

heavy increase in blog traffic

discovering exciting new blogs

forming relationships with other blog owners

learning from other blogs

Well, anyway the blog owner tries to cover his tracks by simply announcing,

“Just doing some market research. See you later.”

Well, this remark was met with a ridiculous amount of laughter.

This was news to me until I just read it on another blog post.

So I immediately logged into the most recent social network I had joined:

As you can see my RSS feed is prominently featured in the left column. So anytime I publish a post this page is instantly updated.

Any blog traffic generated is sure to be targeted traffic!

So, I then went to me Twitter account, which I had done nothing with, and I entered my RSS feed url.

Now, anyone “following” me on Twitter is instantly updated whenever I post.

Life is good!

I will use this same technique on my other social networking sites and report back to you, but I was so excited that I interrupted my visits to make this post.

I would like to add 3 free resources that will have a huge benefit on your long-term blog traffic.

Google Blog Search

Blog Directory Submission

Article Directory Submission

(1)Google Blog Search is used in the following manner:

Every day type in one of the most important keywords for your main blog (your money blog). You will find current posts relevant to your keyword. Make three helpful posts per day that have a hyperlink to your money blog.

In the name slot of the comment box it is OK to enter your main keyword if it is relevant to the theme of your comment.

Naturally, in the url box goes the link to your money blog.

In addition, you can do additional comments that link to the other blogs, Squidoo lenses, or Hub pages you set up to link to your money blog.

(2)Blog Directory Submission should be conducted every day.

Your daily goal should be 3-5 daily blog directory submissions of your money blog.

Start off with the Priority Directories.

Over the long term you will develop a very strong backlink structure that should result in top search engine placement for the most important keywords for your blog.

As you develop added content for the Wordpress.com and Blogger blogs you set up to promote your money blog, you should include these blogs in your blog directory submission process.

(3)Article Directory Submission should be done on a daily basis if done manually.

Submit to 3-5 directories per day. You should be submitting articles that are closely related to the most important keywords for your money blog.

It’s OK to have some of the links in your research box point to your supplemental blogs as well as your money blog.

The combination of directory backlinks and article backlinks will produce an exceedingly strong backlink structure that will provide permanent long-term blog traffic benefits.

These directory submission tasks are perfect for outsourcing. Or, if your kids are old enough, add directory submissions as part of the tasks they have to do to earn their allowance.

Making part or all of your kids’ allowance a business expense is a method of making money you are alreading spending tax deductible.
